4. She was a national champion in flat-water kayaking for several years and 2005 African champion.
5. She has authored and edited books social, environment and sustainability studies, teacher education, language learning and professional development.
6. In her free time she likes drawing and doing graphic designs.
7. She loves challenges- each year she runs a half-marathon or a triathlon or both.
8. She dreams to be a signer, but neither her voice nor performance is getting her closer. She still goes to the karaoke and pretends to be a rock singer.
9. Her guilty pleasure is playing “Escape Room” games on the mobile.
10. She currently lives in Myanmar with her husband and Burmese cat.
Biography
Soundous is an educator with a passion for designing effective educational solutions that empower people and communities. She has worked in different countries and work settings creating appropriate educational structures, learning environments, and teaching-learning materials.
She developed curricula for schools and programs on community leadership, education for sustainable development, environmental studies, peace education, language learning, teacher training and professional development.
Her commitment to eradicating educational inequality drove her to lead and support interdisciplinary teams developing and managing projects and programs, benefiting disadvantaged populations including refugees, IDPs and migrants. She collaborated and built partnerships with active international actors such as UNESCO, UNICEF, Save the Children, British Council, and World Education as well as with international Universities.
She has authored and edited several books in social, environment and sustainability studies, teacher education, language learning and professional development.
With proficiency in 6 languages, she enjoys interacting with multiple communities and immersing in new cultures.
